New York state, however, conducted its own census in years ending in five, such as this one. Description An account of the resource Owen is mistakenly named as "Eugene" in this document. However, given that all of the family information and other identifying markers of personhood are consistent with the earlier census records, other than the name, it is highly probable that the 1875 census taker simply wrote the head of household down as "Eugene" instead of Owen.
